About Mia
Certifications & License
Mia finished her Eastern and Western national board exams to become a diplomate of the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in the fall of 2018. Shortly after, she graduated summa cum laude from her Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine masters program at Northwestern Health Sciences University in December 2018 and received her acupuncture license through the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice in February 2019. She has an active Basic Life Support certification and renews it every two years to stay up to date on changes to emergency situation protocols through the American Red Cross. Mia also got certified to provide natural face lifts, neck lifts, and abdominal tightening through Mei Zen Cosmetic Acupuncture in May 2019. In December 2020 Mia completed additional training in Microneedling through AcuMicro to further her holistic skincare knowledge.
Experience
Some of Mia's favorite experiences include having the opportunity to treat moms-to-be during difficult pregnancies and emergency care situations at Riverside hospital in Minneapolis in 2017. Some of the patients she treated experienced everything from stress and generalized discomfort to intrauterine growth retardation (IUGR), preeclampsia, and gestational diabetes. She also spent eight months treating and improving quality of life for those who had experienced strokes or spinal cord injuries at Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute in Golden Valley in 2018. Mia also enjoyed treating HIV/AIDS patients at the Aliveness Project in Minneapolis to help boost immunity, find more spiritual grounding, and improve mental health in 2018. She currently practices at her own clinic, Healing Haven Acupuncture, in Minneapolis, MN and has been providing one-on-one healing sessions for the local community since March 2019.
Growing up & Graduating
Mia grew up in Minnesota and went to Minnetonka High School in a suburb of the Twin Cities. After high school, she went to college at UW-La Crosse and got her bachelors degree in biology. While there, she got pretty sick with a stomach ulcer and couldn’t seem to find a western doctor that could help. Things just seemed to be getting worse. So, she did her research and found a local acupuncturist/herbalist. Well, that did the trick pretty quick and her path was changed forever. So, she graduated, moved home, and enrolled at Northwestern Health Sciences University to get her masters degree in Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine. Mia graduated summa cum laude in 2018 and couldn’t wait to start healing the world, so she opened her practice in 2019.
